Why I Am Running for the Board of Education

South Windsor has been nationally recognized as a great place to live, and our education system is a key reason. With one more elementary school to build (Pleasant Valley school) we are considered a gold standard across Connecticut.

As Vice Chair of the Board of Education I think continuity of purpose is critical, and that is why I choose to run again for the Board of Education.

There remains much work to do and, as a teacher and professor myself, I believe my experience and skills will be valuable in advancing our academics, developing the programs and policies to take us forward all while assuring that our school system remains on a fiscally responsible track.

My Vision for South Windsor

I’d argue that the South Windsor school system is the best in the state. Getting to the top is difficult, but staying on top is even tougher.

My vision is to work collaboratively with the other Board members and Town Council to do what is needed to keep us a model for others. I think it’s critical to focus on those programs and initiatives that ultimately give our students the greatest chance for success as they move through the school system and onto college or wherever their future takes them.

My Experience

I have been the Vice Chair of the Board of Education for the past four years. I have also been teaching and running the Criminal Justice Program at Tunxis Community College for the past seventeen years.

Education

  • Associates degree of Science in Police Studies
  • Bachelors of Science and Master’s in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
