Candidate for Board of Education
Why I Am Running for the Board of Education
As the current Chairman of the Board of Education, I am committed to the improvement of the educational, health, safety, and academic welfare of all our students. The leading priority now is addressing issues of COVID and assuring the safety of students and staff along with delivering a quality education in whatever environment we must function.
Other priorities include overseeing the completion of the new Pleasant Valley Elementary school, and working with the Board and District leadership on spending in compliance with our budget.
My Vision for South Windsor
Our school system is recognized for outstanding achievement. This is a tribute to our unparalleled staff led by our Superintendent, Dr. Carter, who often speaks about “The magic that our teachers provide in their classrooms each and every day.”
My hope and vision are to continue working with this Board in providing the direction and support to maintain our excellence while addressing areas for improvement including; the challenge of growing enrollment, addressing changing space, technology and instructional needs, and working on our next strategic plan that will be our vision for the future of our school system.
My Experience
It has been my honor to serve our community on the Board of Education since 2011, the last four years as Chair. I come to this position prepared from multiple leadership experiences, including 32 years as a manager with the Department of Social Services and 45 years as a volunteer youth sports coach and administrator.
