This event took place August 22nd. Thank you to those who contributed!
The South Windsor Democratic Town Committee will hold its yearly food drive on August 22nd in the Geissler’s Supermarket parking lot at 965 Sullivan Avenue.
This year the word “donation” has special meaning. Along with accepting much-needed food items for the South Windsor Food Bank, members of the town committee will be handing out organ donation information to create awareness of transplant programs and to assist 11th House District State Representative Jeff Currey. Currey is suffering from stage 5 kidney failure and is urgently seeking a kidney donation. (https://getjeffakidney.com/)
This year’s food drive will be a drive-thru event. It will be held from 10am to 1pm. Those wishing to drop off donations are asked to drive through the marked areas of the parking lot and pull up to the designated area. Volunteers who will be wearing masks, will be happy to remove the donations from car trunks, so that drivers do not have to get of their cars.
The South Windsor Food Bank is currently in need of kidney beans, boxes of cereal and oatmeal, tuna packed in water, snacks for children, juice, canned fruit, stews and hearty soups, and flavored rice.
