The South Windsor Democratic Town Committee (DTC) organizes Democratic Party activities in the Town of South Windsor, Connecticut. The Committee is composed of elected registered Democrats of South Windsor with a mission to engage voters with our goals and issues and to get Democrats elected and appointed to all levels of government.

We recruit, develop, and support highly qualified individuals who share our vision for an equal, affordable, and welcoming community. We stand up for Democratic ideals of social, racial, economic, and environmental justice.

DTC stands for Democratic Town Committee. In the U.S., the Democratic Party is governed by committees of citizens who are registered Democrats, from the national level, down to the state and municipal level. In Connecticut, a DTC is the most local level of Party governance. There is a DTC in almost every town and city in our state.

Every four years, Democrats nationwide join together to craft our party’s platform. The platform is created to uplift working people and write out the values that will guide our party for years. As of October 26, 2021, there are 6,230 registered Democratic voters in South Windsor, CT.

Our organization collects donations both digitally (via Anedot) and through physical checks. These contributions support several key events hosted by the SWDTC each year, including the South Windsor Apple Festival, campaign kickoffs, backyard fundraisers, and candidate-driven efforts to raise funds for the town committee during election season. The donations are utilized for essential campaign activities such as producing mailers, walk cards, and advertisements, recruiting volunteers, and renting campaign headquarters during elections.

Yes, you can attend a SWDTC meeting. Our meetings are open to all registered Democrats residing in South Windsor, CT. If you meet that criteria, you’re welcome to attend and even consider becoming a member. Meetings are held every month on the fourth Thursday in Town Council chambers or campaign headquarters (if during election season).

If you attend at least two town committee meetings, you will be eligible to be appointed to the committee if a vacancy exists. You will need to find someone to motion and second your appointment from the SWDTC.

Beyond becoming a SWDTC member, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer with local campaigns. In even-numbered years, State Representative and State Senate campaigns seek volunteers, while in odd-numbered years, the South Windsor municipal campaigns require assistance. You can contribute by phone banking or door-knocking. Additionally, we always need volunteers to help with the South Windsor Apple Festival, where many stations require support.
